marion jones was an olympic gold medalist . she won many gold medals and instead of trying hard and not giving up. she did drugs . now when you do drugs your choosing the wrong and because of that you shouldnt do drugs to succeed. all you need to succeed is hard work and strong will. with all that you will achieve and succeed. and with drugs you will fall and lose. no matter the surcimstances even if theirs little hope of winning. just keep trying and trying and win right. not with drugs because you will get caught and you will end up in jail.

How to take on college studying
part3

DO the reading
You need to do more than just read the chapters you are assigned- You’re expected to understand them thoroughly. Here are some tips:
. Don’t skim. Read all the materials carefully
. Break up difficult assignments into sections you can digest- chapters, subsections or even paragraphs
. look up any word that you don’t understand
. pause to think about whether you understand the material; ask questions in class about anything that is unclear
. Take notes instead of highlighting- this makes you think through and rephrase the key points
. Create a summary sheet of what from each assignment you read.

How to Take on College Studying
http://www.collegeboard.com/student/plan/copllge-success/961.html
part 1
Develop Good study Habits
In college, you’ll need to build on the study skills that you learned in high school. The demands of a college class are probably more rigorous than those you are used to.
You can succeed by knowing what to expect and how to handle it.
Think of a college as a full-time job, in which you spend 40 hours a week on class, lab, study groups and doing homework
Being organized and using your time well are essential. Learn more about time management, and use the guidelines below to develop your study skills.
Decide when to study
Work out about how many hours you need to study every day. Then make a schedule.
. Figure out what block of time you have available throughout the day, in the evening and on the weekends.
. Consider what time of day you are most alert. . .  there are morning people and night owls . . . .  and try to schedule your studying accordingly.
. Think about whether you do better studying for a few hours at a time or sitting down for marathon sessions.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens
Habit 7
Part 2
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
      3) Heart: Always do what is right so your heart, your conscience, will feel peaceful. When you do wrong, your conscience will prick you and create regretful sensation within your heart. When you do what you honestly feel, you won’t have any regrets. Your heart is your internal compass- it gives you direction and discernment. Just like a magnetic compass gives direction, even truth north, your personal compass, your heart, will point you in the true north, the exact directions and path you need to trod.
4) Soul: Study scriptures and other sacred literature daily. In other words, feed your spirit because your physical body needs temporal food to survive. Pondering, meditation, and reflecting are excellent Soul-Sharpening activities. Try writing your thoughts, feelings, aspirations, concerns, and decisions in a diary or a journal. Writing helps you focus and make good decisions.

Get into the habit of daily improving your body (physical fitness), your mind, your heart, and your soul.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens
Habit 6: Synergize
Synergy is achieved when two or more people work together to create something better than either could alone. Through this habit, teens learn it doesn't have to be “your way” or “my way” but rather a better way, a higher way. Synergy allows teens to value difference and better appreciate others. Synergy is the reward, the delicious fruit you’ll taste as you get better at living the other habits, especially at thinking Win-Win and seeking first to understand. Learning to synergize is like learning to form V formations with others instead of trying to fly through life solo. You’ll be amazed at how much faster and farther you’ll go. Synergy doesn't just happen. It’s a process. You have to get there. And the foundation of getting there is this: Learn to celebrate differences.
A good band is a great example of synergy. It’s not just the drums, or the guitar, or the sax, or the vocalist, it’s all of them together that  make up the “sound.” Each band member brings his or her strengths to the table to create something better than each could alone. No instrument is more important than another, just different.

"whether i fail or succeed shall be no man's doing but my own. I am the force."

~ Elaine Maxwell

this is true. because no matter the consequence i will never let anybody disrespect me and say im fucking up in life, because guess what. i already know. but i dont care. i have my own force and i have the power to bring my life back up whenever i want. doing so is my choice , my opinion and if you don't respect that well good for fucking you.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens
Habit 1
(By Sean Covey but modified)
Habit 1: Be Proactive.
Being proactive is the key to unlocking the other habits. Help your tee take control and responsibility for her life. Proactive people understand that they are responsible for their own happiness or unhappiness. They don’t blame others for their own actions or feelings. Proactive people realize that the ball is in their court, that they are the captain for their own ship; that they are in control, control of their decisions, thoughts, choices, decisions, goals, actions, and priorities. Proactive people are self-starters; they don’t wait to be told what to do, they press forward with enthusiasm toward the achievement of their assignment, their duties, their responsibilities, their obligations. Choosing to do what is right is a proactive decision. Obey the rules. Obey the law. Obey the coach. Obey the school policies. Obey your parents. Obey with exactness, and great things will come to you. Be Proactive and take the initiative.

"it's not where you live but how you live that counts. it's not where you play but how you play that counts"

~Mr.Haymore
this is true because life always depends the way you live it. you can start out in a poor home, and after a few years of hard work and school, end up a owner of your own business or even higher. you can start out at the top with rich parents and stuff. but if you dont try enough in life your not going nowhere no matter the financial income of your parents because they wont always be their for you.

Profile of a Successful Students Part 1
http://www.plymouth.edu/office/online-education/online-learning/profile-of-a-successful-student/

A successful student…
…takes responsibility for his/her own learning
Online learning can be powerful, stimulating, engaging experience for the student who can work and think independently. However, since most-if not all- of the learning takes place on your own time, you will not have the kind of direct supervision you would in a classroom. Online learning therefore, requires a significant commitment from you. All education comes down to what you’re willing to invest in the experience- this is particularly true in the online environment. Commitment, self-discipline and self- motivation are all key qualities to ensuring success in an online course!
…is comfortable and confident with written communication
Reading and writing are the basis of most online courses, so it’s critical that you feel comfortable with this form of communication. While some courses contain modules that include videos or other activities,
activities, all of them require significant amounts of reading. And nearly all of your communication with your classmates and your instructor will be in writing. If these are weak areas for you, you will want to address those issues prior to enrolling or while enrolled in an online course. The PSU Writing Center is available to assist you.
…is willing to be a member of an online community.

"goodness is the only investment that never fails."
- Henry David Thoreau

Thats not true. In my opinion, goodness isn't always the best for everybody. We need some bad because if its all good. Life wouldn't be life. It would just be a phase, as simple as the life of a butterfly. And I don't know about other people, but in my life I want excitement, mistakes, randomness, because if their wasn't bad their would be good. their will just be life and life without living is worthless. My opinion.

Successful students
part 10

10. Successful students are good time managers. Successful students do not procrastinate. They have learned that time control is life control and have consciously chosen to be in control of their life.

An element truth: you will either control time or be controlled by it! Its your choice: you can lead or be led, establish control or relinquish control, steer your own course or follow others. Failure to take control of their own time is probably no.1 study skills problem for college students. It ultimately causes many students to become non-students! Procrastinators are good excuse-makers. Don’t make academics harder on yourself than it has to be. Stop procrastinating. And don’t wait until tomorrow to do it!

"it's our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and (to make) unpopular that which is unsound (and not good) "
~Joseph Smith

this is true because most people in the united states and all over the world all they want is to just be popular, to fit in. And if people were to change and make what is popular the right thing, for example instead of doing drugs and instead playing a sport, then some people might actually follow your footsteps and change from doing drugs to playing a sport as well.

Successful students

9. . . . . don’t cram for exams. Successful students know that divided periods of study are more effective than cram sessions, and they practice it.

if there is one thing that study skills specialist agree on, it’s that distributed study is better than massed, late-night, last-ditch efforts know as cramming. You’ll learn more, remember more, and earn a higher grade by studying in four, one hour-a-night sessions for Friday’s exam than studying for four hours straight on Thursday night. Short, concentrated preparatory efforts are more efficient and rewarding than wasteful, inattentive, last moment marathons. Yet, so many students fail to learn this lesson and end up repeating it over and over again until it becomes a wasteful habit. Not too clever huh.? When you cram, you are taking the shortcut, and shortcuts never produce any real worthwhile results. Also, when you take shortcuts, you feel rather rotten knowing that you could have done better but didn’t. Shortcuts cut you short. You can’t plant watermelon seeds and harvest fresh watermelons the next day . it takes time. Cramming for a test or project and expecting to make a high score the next day is like planting a watermelon seed and expecting to harvest and eat fresh watermelon the next. Plus cramming for a test or project doesn’t help you academically, so why even do it. Plan ahead, prepare ahead. Give yourself plenty of days and weeks to prepare for upcoming accountability opportunities.

"whats right isn't always popular. what's popular isn't always right."

Howard cosell

this is extremely true because jst because one thing is in , and everybody has it. it doesn't make it right.

and yea maybe something is right and nobody does it , but still doesnt mean you shouldnt do it.

example: hey where all going to the park and were going to smoke some glass, you want to come.? "

Successful students

7. . . . . .  understand that actions affect learning. Successful students know their personal behavior affect their feelings and emotions which I'm turn can affect learning.

if you act in a certain way that normally produces particular feelings, you will begin to experience those feelings. Act like you’re bored, and you’ll become bored. Act like you’re disinterested, and you’ll become disinterested. So the next time you have trouble concentrating in the classroom, “act” like an interested person: lean forward, place you feet flat on the floor, maintain eye contact with the professor, nod occasionally, take notes, and ask questions. Not only will you benefit directly from your actions, your classmates and professor may also get more excited and enthusiastic.

8.  . . . talk about what they’re learning. Successful students get to know something well enough that they can put it into words. Talk about something, with friends or classmates, is not only good for checking whether or not you know something, its proven learning tool. Transferring ideas into words provides the most direct path for moving knowledge from short-term to long-term memory. You really don’t “know” material until you can put it into words. So, next time you study, don’t do it silently. Talk about notes, problems, readings, etc. with friends, recite to a chair, organize an oral study group, pretend you’re teaching your peers. “talk-learning” produces a whole host of memory traces that result in more learning.

Successful Students 5-6
5. Don’t sit in the back of the room. Successful students minimize classroom distractions that interfere with learning.
Students want the best seat available of their entertainment dollars, but willingly seek the worst seat for their educational dollars. Students who sit in the back cannot possibly be their professor’s teammate (see no.4). why do they expose themselves to the temptations of inactive classroom experiences and distractions of all the people between them and their instructor? Of course, we know they choose the back of the classroom because they seek invisibility or anonymity, both of which are antithetical  to efficient and effective learning. If you are trying not to be part of the class, why, then, are you wasting your time? Push your hot. Buttons, is there something else you should be doing with your time?

6. . . . . take good notes. Successful students take notes that are understandable and organized, review them often.

why put something into your notes you don’t understand? Ask the questions now that are necessary to make your notes meaningful at some later time. A short review of your notes while the material is still fresh on your mind helps you to learn more. The more you learn then, the less you’ll have to learn later and the less time it will take because you won’t have to include some deciphering time, also. The whole purpose of taking notes is to use them, and use them often. The more you use them, the more they improve.

"the time is always right to do what is right."

wrong. people dont always have to do right because sometimes when you think your doing the right , you may be dealing a heck load of bad on others. it could go either way so you should never only depend on one.

Successful Students

          3. ….ask questions. Successful students ask questions to provide the quickest route between ignorance and knowledge. In addition to securing knowledge you seek, asking questions has at least two other extremely important benefits. The process helps you pay attention to your professor and helps your professor pay attention to you! Think about it. If you want something, go after it. Get the answer now, or fail a question later. There are no foolish questions, only foolish silence. It’s your choice.
            4. …learn that a student and a professor make a team. Most instructors want exactly what you want: they would like for you to learn the material in their respective classes and earn a good grade.

Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, and you share the same interests, the same goals-in short, and your teammates. Get to know your professor. You’re the most valuable player on the same team. Your jobs are to work together for your mutual success. Neither wishes to chalk up a losing season. Be a team player.

English, math, foreign language tips: PRACTICE--especially foreign language. It is hard to succeed in a foreign language class if you are just showing and doing the work. But if you are in your room and look at objects and try to say them in the language you are learning it actually helps. Or if you send a simple text to a friend think about it, can you transfer that to German or Spanish? These are little things that will help.

Study for Multiple Exams Part 2
My strategies for written assignments: Everyone has their own writing styles. I generally come up with an idea and do massive amounts of research before I ever think about writing. I then organize my research then sometimes prepare an outline before actually writing. I always print out the paper and come back to it the next day and reread it. That is the easiest way for me to catch my own mistakes. I have to give my eyes a break from it, and if I just wrote it I think it looks perfect. But if I look at it a day later I almost always find grammatical errors or phrases and sentences I just want to reword.
How I succeed in team projects: Never assume someone is doing what they are supposed to be doing. Have regular meetings and have each member show their work, not just give you or the group their work for it.

studying for multiple exams

Study for Multiple Exams
Part 1

How I study for multiple exams, deal with multiple projects: really it is my time management that I explained above. If I see I have multiple things due or to study for all at the same time I spread out my time beforehand. For example, if I have a test on Monday, and 2 test Tuesday then I will study for my Monday test Thursday and part of Friday. Start studying for my next test on the second half of Friday and part of Saturday, then my second Tuesday test on Saturday as well and part of Sunday. Then Sunday night I can review for my Monday test because I already studied for it. When that test is over I can begin reviewing for the other tests. My overall study method: I try to break it up over several days or at least two. I get bogged down if I try to pull an all-nighter. How I’ve overcome an initial bad grade: If I received a low grade I probably knew it was coming because I didn’t prepare properly or I didn’t use the right study habit for that class. I usually try to go over what I did wrong and sometime discuss with the teacher what I can do differently on the next exame on what they suggest I do for studying for the next exam

sarahs success story part2

 Sarah’s Academic Success story
part 2

My test study method: I have different strategies for different types of tests or subjects. For me, any type of math is exceptionally difficult so I had to spend extra time on that. I would go back through the homework problems focusing on the problems that I had extra difficult on. Many times I would ask the teacher for any additional study materials they could provide. If I was a class that required memorization or applying concepts I would create a sort of study guide for myself many times focusing on what were key focal points in the class. If I knew there were going to be essays I would try to take the terms and apply them to an example or create different questions on the concepts focused on throughout the semester.
My time management secret: I always carry a planner with me. I even use different highlighters to show what each event on my calendar is for. For example, pink is personal, yellow is school, orange is work, blue is for appointments, and green is for my sorority. Although I use white-out frequently, I can see in bright yellow that if I have that project for finance due on Tuesday, I need to start working on it [the previous] Wednesday so I can just get it done. My friends have always been amazed at how early I get things accomplished but that is really all I do

Work Together
part 1

I can and will work as part of the team as long as everyone in the team is willing to do his work. I don’t like having to pick up the slack, but I will if I know that my grade will be harmed otherwise. My greatest academic success was in my first semester when I had to write a 10-12 page research paper. It was the longest paper I had ever been assigned and I was a little scared. Also, it was the first paper where they were like, here you go, just write about something. I had to argue in favor of or against something, but it could be anything from the sky is blue to hypnotism. I wrote mine on hypnotism. I worked on this paper for weeks and weeks. Every night I would be doing research or writing. I put so much effort into this paper. It ended up being just under 12 pages but it was full on information. I turned it in and when I got back a week or so later, I had received the first A+ of my college career. All my hard work paid off because I got the grade I deserved. I was really happy and proud of myself.

You Can Succeed Every Day

Part 1

My overall study method: I break up studying over several days and over the course of the evening and day. Cramming never works for me so I try not to do it. I will have longer sessions on nights before big tests, but I never stay up much later than normal before tests. I know that if I take the test tired the next day I will not do as well as if I was rested.

How I’ve overcome an initial bad grade: I usually look over the test or paper to see what I did that the teacher did not want. Basically, I do not stress out about grades that much because for me they are not worth getting really upset about. I do well because I know that I know the material. However, if I do get a bad grade, or one lower than I expected, I make sure that the next time a test is coming I study even more so that I won’t be surprised by the questions.

effective study methods part 3

Effective Study Methods Part 3

How do I deal with multiple projects/tests: When I have more than one test or project, I break up my studying. I will study for one test for 30 minutes or so and then switch to the other one. If there is some part of a project that I know will take me very long, I will do it when I don’t have much time. If I am really in a crunch for time on a specific day, I will study for one test in the morning and the other in the afternoon or at night. By breaking up the studying into different sections, I feel like I get much more done. Cram sessions do not work for me. I need to study something for a shorter period of time more often for it to sink in.

Effective Study Methods Part 2

My time management secret: My secret is to use time wisely. I know that on certain days I do not have time to run errands or hang out with friends even. Each minute of each day is used for something. One thing that works really well for me is to write everything down. I mean everything. I write down if I am going to email people, write letters, or study. It works for me to have a planner that goes by the day and shows me what I am going to be doing every day. Knowing what I have to do every day helps me plan out my week and my days. If I know that I don’t have time on Tuesday, I will try to get more things done on Monday or Sunday. I plan ahead, especially if I am going to be on the road for volleyball. When I am on the road, I bring my books and read on the bus/plane/hotel room. Missing class is killer to make up from, but if you are upfront with your professors, they are usually nice about having to turn things in late or not being in class.

3 week vacation .

what I did on vacation was chill with friends and family. I would be out with friends most of the time but on my birthday i went over to my aunts on the west of L.A and partied  little. Also celebrated Christmas with my mom and sisters. That's pretty much what I did on my vacation

Effective Study Methods Part 1

My test study method: When it comes time to study for the test, I usually start 2-3 days before the test. I go through my notes and make flashcards on what was important for those sections, paying special attention to what the teacher said would be on the test if there was a review session. Also, I go through the book and read the inset stories and add to my flashcards. If there are practice problems or online assignments or old tests, I use those to help me study for the test as well. Once the test is over, I keep the flashcards so that I have them for the next test or the final. Flashcards are a marvelous learning tool. The key to remembering something is to repeat it numerous times-spaced rehearsal. If you forget something, it is because you haven’t repeated it enough times for an extended period of time. Repetition is a law of learning; therefore, to learn and remember, to recall, it is mandatory that you repeat over and over the things you desire to learn and remember. You may be thinking, “Oh, no, repeating something.” You need to get used to it. For example, the more you practice a song on the piano, the better you become at playing the song. Learning and remembering is like playing the piano-the more you practice saying it or doing it the better you can remember it. Look now at what you can remember. You remember it because you have repeated it numerous times since first being exposed to it. So, Practice rehearsing those things you desire to remember, and they will stick to you.

PracticeàProficiencyàPleasure

The better you remember, the more pleasure you obtain from studying and learning.
